Liver Support Architectures We Manufacture
Use when: Mass-retail or first private-label liver-support that still sells a milk thistle–led SKU.
Direction: Silybum marianum seed / fruit; extract milligrams or silymarin % plus method; silybin only as its own row when the label will print it.
Trade-off: A three-botanical retail bottle belongs on liver-complex. A one-unit phospholipid SKU belongs on practitioner phytosome. A higher % is another COA, not a better conversion.
Default format: Capsule.
Use when: Amazon / DTC retail that sells milk thistle plus artichoke plus dandelion — with or without a named turmeric row.
Direction: Each botanical keeps its own identity, milligrams, marker, and method. An unnamed “liver blend” weight is not a specification. Milk thistle on this stack still locks as extract weight or silymarin %.
Trade-off: Broader story than mainstream silymarin; blend uniformity and multi-marker release are heavier. If artichoke is the hero and milk thistle is optional, that is digestive-adjacent — not this card. This is a liver-support complex, not a detox or cleanse kit.
Default format: Capsule.
Use when: A professional or premium line needs one-unit oil-phase delivery.

Core Ingredients We Supply for Liver Supplements
The grades below are the conventional commercial starting points we quote for finished capsules, tablets, and other units. A bulk kilogram of extract is a different purchase — send that as its own brief. Choose the grade that matches the line you want on the label, then send a BOM or two COAs and we will quote against current documentation. The percentages and milligrams are quotation starting points, not a stocked catalog and not a suggested daily serving.
Identity: Silybum marianum seed / fruit. Leaf or whole-herb is a different PO.
Choose a starting grade:
- Extract-weight — e.g. milk thistle extract 500 mg (identity + weight)
- Standardized silymarin — commercial conversation 20 / 40 / 50 / 70 / 80%, with HPLC or UV on the same line
- Silymarin milligrams printed — e.g. silymarin 400 mg (marker milligrams, not extract weight)
- Silybin / silibinin as its own row only when the label will print it
- Phospholipid / oil-compatible complex — softgel; licensed brand only when named on the brief
10:1 or 20:1 is extract yield, not silymarin %. Two “80%” files are comparable only after method and basis match.

Identity: Globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus) leaf. Heart / flower-head and Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus) are different POs.

500 mg extract ≠ 8,000 mg equivalent ≠ 5% cynarin ≠ 5% total CQA.
Format: Capsule first; tablet for higher-load or cynarin-declared leaf extract.
Identity: Taraxacum officinale root default. Leaf is a separate identity and a different PO.

- Named-ratio root extract — declared 4:1 or 10:1 on its own line (ratio is not an assay)

- Named marker (inulin or total phenolics) only if the artwork will print it, with method — inulin is a root conversation
500 mg root powder ≠ 500 mg of a 10:1 extract ≠ a printed inulin line.
Format: Capsule.
Identity: Curcuma longa rhizome. Turmeric powder, turmeric extract, 95% curcuminoids, and a delivery system are four different POs.
Choose a starting grade:
- Turmeric rhizome powder — typically 2–5% curcuminoids (identity powder, not a numbered extract)
- Turmeric extract — commercial conversation 10–50% curcuminoids + method
- Standardized curcuminoids — commonly ≥95% total curcuminoids (split curcumin / DMC / BDMC only if the panel will print them)
- Water-dispersible or carrier-enhanced 95% — its own specification, not “the same 95% in a capsule”
- Oil-phase / phospholipid complex — softgel; licensed grade only when named on the brief
- Liposomal curcumin — typically ≥95% curcuminoids in a phospholipid file, plus encapsulation data
- Liposomal turmeric — whole extract or powder in a vesicle file; not interchangeable with liposomal 95% curcuminoids
Piperine / black pepper is a second row only when named. Dry 95% and an oil-phase or liposomal fill do not share one milligram line.
Format: Capsule; softgel only with an oil phase.
Choose a starting grade:
- Reduced L-glutathione (dry oral) — commercial conversation 250 / 500 mg reduced GSH per serving on the finished unit; GSH vs GSSG on release as scoped
- S-acetyl glutathione — a separate specification; milligrams as S-acetyl, not a 1:1 rename of a 500 mg reduced-GSH line
- Liposomal GSH — typically 500 / 700 mg reduced GSH in a phospholipid file, plus encapsulation data; often liquid (mg/mL × serving mL)
Finished GSH is not NAC. Dry 250 / 500 mg and liposomal 500 / 700 mg do not share one milligram line.

Schisandra Supplements
Identity: Schisandra chinensis fruit. S. sphenanthera is a different lignan profile and a different PO. Isolated schisandrin A is not a dietary-supplement SKU.
Choose a starting grade:
- Fruit powder — panel prints fruit milligrams, not a lignan %
- Named-ratio fruit extract — real DER (e.g. 10:1); ratio is not lignans
- Standardized fruit extract — common servings 200 / 500 / 1,000 mg extract
- Total lignans by HPLC — commercial conversation 1%–10%, frequently ~9%, with analyte and basis on the same line
- A named schisandrin (A, B, or schisandrol A/B) + HPLC — not interchangeable with “9% total lignans”
Two “9%” files are comparable only after species, analyte, method, and milligram basis match.

Additional Botanical Supplements We Can Supply on a Liver-Adjacent Brief
These botanicals can be named on a BOM now as conventional commercial grades — Latin name, plant part, and marker. A quote path is not a liver-treatment, hangover-drug, or China health-food-registration claim. Pick a starting grade; send the COA if you already have one.

Identity: Pueraria lobata root (Kew: P. montana var. lobata). P. thomsonii / P. montana var. thomsonii is a different species file. P. mirifica and kuzu starch are out of this quote.
Name the destination first — Japan treats peeled kudzu root as a medicinal-only substance (starch / flower / leaf are a different class); Canada NHP lists var. lobata root and flower as two rows; a U.S. dietary-supplement panel is not those files.

- P. lobata root powder or root extract-weight — e.g. kudzu root extract 500 mg
- Standardized to puerarin — % + method (extract conversation, not a crude-drug pharmacopoeia limit)

Name the destination before artwork. A U.S. panel does not automatically travel across Canadian NHP, EU / member-state, or Australian pathways. A proprietary “liver blend” is not an RFQ specification.
Serving-size bands (development examples, not intakes). Milk thistle: compare silymarin, not extract weight. NAC: 300 / 500 / 600 / 900 / 1,200 mg — raise load by adding a unit or changing format before changing the headline. Choline: quote actual choline rather than salt weight. Glutathione: reduced GSH milligrams on the finished unit, not a renamed NAC line.
Print liver-health or liver-support structure/function language after destination counsel signs off. Fatty-liver treatment, hangover-drug, and Phase I/II detox-drug copy stay off the brief.
Why these fields matter
Milk thistle: extract weight is not silymarin. Default identity is Silybum marianum seed / fruit. Leaf or whole-herb is a separate specification. 500 mg extract and 500 mg standardized to 80% silymarin are not the same RFQ. Lock extract milligrams, silymarin %, method (HPLC vs UV on the same line), whether silybin / silibinin is a separate row, and milligrams per serving. Commercial talk often uses a 20 / 40 / 50 / 70 / 80% silymarin window — a development conversation, not a catalog guarantee. Two finished units that both print “milk thistle 500 mg” can land far apart on silymarin if the incoming file and the finished-unit method do not match. Pesticide, mycotoxin, and micro panels belong on the milk-thistle quote. Mainstream silymarin and liver-complex retail share this fork; practitioner phytosome adds the phospholipid / oil-phase file on top of it.
NAC: milligrams vs capsule physics. Lock N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine identity, milligrams per serving, fill per capsule, odor, and moisture. The path is milligrams → fill weight → capsule count → odor → hygroscopicity → powder or stick when the shell fails. Whether the brief is an active-lifestyle thiol SKU is the first fork; milligram and process fields sit on the NAC specification.
Choline: salt weight is not actual choline. A line that reads choline bitartrate 500 mg is not 500 mg choline. If the label prints choline, lock the salt, actual choline milligrams, and serving. α-GPC and citicoline belong on cognition briefs — Citicoline (CDP-Choline).
Artichoke, dandelion, turmeric: one marker each. Artichoke: Cynara scolymus leaf; cynarin or caffeoylquinic acids; extract ratio. Dandelion: root powder vs root extract; a printed 4:1 or 10:1 is not a standardization. Turmeric: turmeric extract, curcuminoids %, and an enhanced-delivery system are three specifications. Three botanicals sharing one unnamed weight cannot be quoted as one assay. Liver-complex retail needs every row. Digestive-adjacent needs the artichoke row first.
Glutathione: finished thiol is not a precursor rename. Reduced GSH, S-acetyl, and liposomal GSH are separate specifications. GSH vs GSSG belongs on release when the brief asks. Dry oral GSH and liposomal GSH do not share a milligram line. Active-lifestyle thiol and healthy-aging glutathione are different shelf architectures, not two grades of the same SKU.
Detox search language vs what can print. Buyers may search “liver detox” or “liver cleanse.” What we manufacture is a liver-health / liver-support dietary supplement. Liver-complex retail is a named-botanical bottle, not a cleanse kit. Specifications center on identity, assay, and contaminants — not an effect claim.
High NAC loading
Challenge
High fill weight, thiol odor, moisture, and poor flow can make a one-capsule serving impractical.
Our manufacturing approach
We evaluate the target serving against capsule fill volume at feasibility. When a one-capsule target is unrealistic, the SKU becomes a two-capsule serving or a powder / stick — before pilot production, so format is locked before stability testing. Flow aids and moisture-control measures sit on that same file.
Milk thistle extract variability
Challenge
Bulk density, flow, bitterness, and assay-method differences can change the finished specification even when two quotes show the same extract milligrams. Finished-unit silymarin still has to match the label.
Our manufacturing approach
We confirm botanical identity, extract specification, assay method, and finished-unit target before quotation. Excipients and process parameters are then adjusted to hold blend uniformity and the printed silymarin (or named marker) on the finished unit.
Multi-botanical blends
Challenge
Density mismatch and segregation can leave one printed marker off-spec even when the total blend weight looks correct. One unnamed “liver blend” weight cannot be quoted as one assay.
Our manufacturing approach
Each botanical is quoted on its own identity, milligrams, and assay. Particle-size pairing, blend time, and in-process sampling are set so every printed marker can be released on the finished unit.
Curcumin systems
Challenge
Poor dispersion, carrier choice, staining, and oil-phase compatibility can stall a softgel or leave a dry extract in the wrong format.
Our manufacturing approach
The delivery system follows the dosage form. Conventional dry extracts are suited to capsules and tablets. Oil-dispersible systems are evaluated separately for softgel production so fill compatibility and seam stability are confirmed before the line is booked.
Glutathione stability
Challenge
Reduced GSH oxidizes with moisture, oxygen, and poorly specified pack. Dry oral GSH and liposomal GSH are not interchangeable on the same purchase order.
Our manufacturing approach
When reduced glutathione is specified, we use moisture-controlled manufacturing, oxygen-barrier packaging, and stability verification, with GSH vs GSSG on the release file as scoped. Liposomal glutathione is a separate formulation platform — not a substitution of the same milligrams into a dry blend.
Incoming COA is not the finished label. Commercial milk thistle lots move on silymarin, pesticides, mycotoxins, and micro.
Incoming. Identity, assay / marker with the method on the same line, heavy metals, micro, residual solvents where applicable. Milk thistle: pesticide and mycotoxin panels. NAC / GSH: chemistry identity.
In-process. Blend uniformity, fill or tablet weight, moisture on thiol SKUs.
Finished unit. Printed silymarin (or the named marker), NAC, actual choline, GSH, or each botanical marker after fill or cook; weight variation; disintegration as specified; micro; pack integrity.

Packaging is selected against moisture, oxidation, light, odor, and stain — not only the shelf photo.
NAC / GSH. Moisture and oxidation — induction seal, desiccant, high barrier. Liquid GSH: light barrier and headspace.
Botanical extracts. Moisture and caking — HDPE / PET plus desiccant; alu-alu or blister for humid lanes.
Curcumin / phytosome. Light and stain — opaque bottle or blister. Oil-phase softgels: leak check.
Powder / stick. Barrier film is part of the specification.
Lock the container, barrier film, desiccant or oxygen-control option, and stick/sachet film on the RFQ. Shelf-life months follow that SKU’s stability file.

This workflow covers OEM, ODM and contract manufacturing of finished liver-health units — custom formula or an existing BOM.
1. Brief. Destination, format, architecture or BOM, claim direction, target cost, first-order quantity.
2. Feasibility. Load, compatibility, stability, and whether the destination can sell the named actives.
3. Prototype and testing.
4. Artwork. Supplement Facts must match the silymarin, choline, NAC, or GSH line that was locked.
5. Pilot → production → batch release.
Typical MOQ and lead time
Capsules often about 3,000–5,000 finished units per SKU. Tablets about 5,000–10,000. Powder / stick often from about 10,000. Softgels, gummies, and liquids after the format file is locked. Sample 7–15 days after specification lock. Mass production often 4–6 weeks after formula, artwork, testing plan, and schedule. Reorders are usually shorter than the first commercial batch. A kilogram drum quote is not a finished-unit MOQ.
Which ingredient should be the hero on a private-label liver SKU?
Milk thistle is a common starting point for a first SKU. NAC is a better starting point when fill load and thiol handling drive the formula. Finished-GSH briefs start from the GSH specification. The hero should follow the label architecture and target dosage, not the ingredient count.
What milk thistle specification should I lock?
Silybum marianum seed or fruit, then either extract milligrams or silymarin % with the method on the same line. Add silybin only if the label will print it. 20–80% is a conversation window, not a site catalog.
Is extract ratio the same as standardized silymarin?
No. A 10:1 extract without a silymarin method is a different specification from 80% silymarin by HPLC. Two “500 mg milk thistle” quotes are not comparable until those fields match.
Do you manufacture liver-support softgels?
Yes when the BOM has an oil phase — curcumin carriers, phosphatidylcholine, or a silybin phospholipid complex.
What belongs on the finished COA that incoming paperwork misses?
Finished silymarin (or the printed marker) after fill or cook, plus the milk-thistle contaminant panel. Weight variation and pack integrity sit on the same release.
Can you print liver detox or fatty-liver treatment copy?
No. We manufacture liver-health / liver-support dietary supplements. Structure/function language is destination counsel’s file. Disease, hangover-drug, and Phase I/II detox-drug artwork are outside the default OEM scope.
What is the planning MOQ?
Capsule and tablet MOQs vary by format, pack, and testing requirements. High-load and multi-marker formulas may require a higher first batch. Send the format and target quantity for a project-specific quote.
Can one formula travel the United States, EU, UK, and Canada?
We issue specifications and batch files. U.S. Supplement Facts, EU/UK claim lists, and Canada NHP are not the same path. We do not register the finished label as the brand owner.
