Professional Schisandra Supplements Manufacturer
KS Nutripharma is a schisandra supplement manufacturer for OEM, ODM, and private-label brands. We lock Schisandra chinensis fruit (wu wei zi / five-flavor berry when the destination label allows it) into finished units for stress-relief assortments—or into bulk extract for a filling program—with a named lignan file and a batch COA.
What we manufacture
- Lignan-marked S. chinensis fruit extract and fruit powder
- Finished capsules, tablets, powders/sticks, gummies, and liquids
Who it is for
Brand owners who need a finished SKU under their label, and manufacturers who need bulk schisandra extract or fruit powder qualified into a filling line. Default species is S. chinensis. Southern schisandra (S. sphenanthera) is a different PO.
Why this factory
We lock the lignan analyte and HPLC method before anyone compares price. Two supplier COAs are mapped before you pay for the wrong sample. Typical first reply is one business day. An NDA is available before you send a BOM. A project manager is assigned when the specification is in review.
Free specification review · Compare two COAs · Price finished units
cGMP · ISO 9001 · ISO 22000 · HACCP · FSSC 22000 · Halal · Kosher · in-house lab + SGS/Eurofins pathways

Start Here: Do You Already Have Schisandra?
Yes — I already have drums or a supplier COA
- Need the drum filled and packed under your label? → Finished formats · Amazon / FBA pack
- Need only kg, not bottles? → Bulk extract
- Need to know if two “9%” prices are the same material? → COA comparison · Upload two COAs
- Customer-supplied raw material? Same qualification path; finished-unit COA still applies. Send the incoming COA
No — I need a product file
- Need a shelf formula, not new chemistry? → Fast-start formulas (retail position on each card)
- Extract vs fruit powder still open? → Extract vs powder
- Need a certified-organic claim? → Organic (not a catalog SKU)
- Need vegan HPMC, gummies, or a tincture? → Formats · Vegan capsules
The Schisandra File: Species, Lignans and Five-Flavor Taste

A schisandra PO is not interchangeable with another botanical extract until three fields are locked.
Species. Default is S. chinensis fruit. S. sphenanthera has a different lignan profile. Do not blend them into one “schisandra mg.”
Marker. Total lignans and a named schisandrin (A, B, schisandrol A/B) are different analytes. “9%” without HPLC analyte and assay basis cannot be compared. Isolated schisandrin A is not offered as a dietary-supplement SKU.
Taste. Five-flavor berry is sour, sweet, bitter, salty, and pungent in one fruit. Hard capsules hide it. Sticks, gummies, and tinctures need a flavor and assay plan—or the lot fails sensory before it fails HPLC.
Origin (Northeast China — Jilin, Heilongjiang, Liaoning; Korea / omija; Russian Far East) belongs on the RFQ when the label will state it. A province name is not 9% lignans. Harvest is typically autumn; marked extract lags the crop. Short years constrain 9% HPLC grades first.
Fast-Start Schisandra Formulas
These are commercially established dietary-supplement architectures—not frozen SKUs. Serving size, lignan grade, and pack stay customizable. R&D center. Retail position is the aisle the bottle sits in, not a structure/function claim we pre-approve.

Retail position: Premium botanical / adaptogen extract aisle.
Use when: Panel prints standardized fruit extract. Common labels 200 / 500 / 1000 mg extract, talk often ~9% total lignans, HPLC.
Specify: Extract mg; total lignans vs named schisandrin + HPLC; incoming vs finished assay.
Trade-off: Compact numbered capsule vs higher kg cost and a locked HPLC file.
Default format: Hard capsule.

Retail position: Whole-berry / five-flavor identity, often DTC sticks.
Use when: Panel prints fruit milligrams, not a lignan %.
Specify: Fruit mg; flavor if stick; any lignan number → extract card instead.
Trade-off: Lower kg cost vs sour fill and no honest marker %.
Default format: Capsule or stick.

Retail position: Stress / dual-adaptogen.
Use when: Western stress capsule; schisandra often 200–500 mg next to ashwagandha.
Specify: Lignan HPLC + withanolide method; who is the hero mg.
Trade-off: Fastest stress-aisle start vs two assays. Licensed ashwagandha grades only with a license.
Default format: Hard capsule.

Retail position: Energy-adjacent adaptogen (daytime).
Use when: Dual-herb stamina capsule. Rhodiola is named on the BOM.
Specify: Schisandra lignans; rhodiola species + rosavins/salidroside; morning vs evening.
Trade-off: Clearer daytime story vs second HPLC and stimulant-adjacent artwork.
Default format: Hard capsule.

Retail position: Traditional Chinese medicine vitality (not Panax).
Use when: Dual already reverse-specified on the codonopsis page (~200 mg schisandra extract).
Specify: Fruit mg + lignans; C. pilosula root + its assay.
Trade-off: Vitality without Korean ginseng vs two files.
Default format: Hard capsule.

Retail position: Energy adaptogen.
Use when: Siberian ginseng pair, not Panax. Eleuthero · energy supplements. Panax-led stacks quote on the ginseng page.
Specify: Lignans + eleutherosides B+E.
Trade-off: “Ginseng + schisandra”search without a Panax file—only if artwork does not imply Korean red ginseng.
Default format: Hard capsule.

Retail position: Liver-adjacency / antioxidant.
Use when: Milk thistle (silymarin named). Natural antioxidant supplements.
Specify: Lignans + silymarin method; capsule vs liquid.
Trade-off: Liver shelf vs claims and CYP-adjacent warnings. Not a hepatitis SKU.
Default format: Hard capsule.

Retail position: Women’s wellness.
Use when: Women’s wellness set; goji and/or dong quai.
Specify: Extract or fruit powder; second botanical assay; artwork under your brand.
Trade-off: Assortment fit vs extra files. Prenatal formulas are quoted on a separate file.
Default format: Capsule or tablet.
Choose the Schisandra Format: Capsules, Tablets, Powder, Gummies or Liquids
Five-flavor taste decides the first SKU more often than line speed. Capsules remain the default lignan-extract launch. Gummies and tinctures are already on retail shelves; they cost more in sensory work and finished assay.

Why choose this form: Fastest launch · lowest stability risk for dry extract · lowest typical MOQ · most common OEM start.
Best for: Lignan-marked extract and most dual botanicals in one unit. The shell hides sour fruit.
Typical formula cards: Lignan extract and most duals.
What to lock: Gelatin vs HPMC; extract mg; lignan analyte + HPLC.
Manufacturing note: Dry extract does not automatically go into a softgel.
→ Hard Capsules

Why choose this form: Pharmacy-compact bottles · lower unit cost at volume · higher count per pack · coat can control dust and acid.
Best for: Identity or extract when compression is acceptable.
Typical formula cards: Lignan extract, fruit powder, women’s vitality.
What to lock: Mg basis; coat; piece assay.
Manufacturing note: Tablet COA ≠ capsule COA.
→ Tablets

Why choose this form: Gram-scale fruit servings · stick/DTC channel · lower cost per kilogram of fruit · higher MOQ (film + flavor).
Best for: Fruit-powder stick and pouch programs. Sour if the pack is opened.
Typical formula cards: Fruit powder identity.
What to lock: Fruit vs extract in the name; g per stick; flavor; moisture.
Manufacturing note: Omija tea and syrup are food products, quoted separately from this supplement SKU.
→ Powders and Granules

Why choose this form: Retail premium / DTC · harder formulation · higher MOQ · flavor is the project.
Best for: DTC and retail gummy assortments—not a compact 9% extract bottle.
Typical formula cards: Fruit powder identity.
What to lock: Fruit vs extract; pectin vs gelatin; sugar system; piece assay if lignans are claimed.
Manufacturing note: Heat and pH move potency. “1200 mg berry” ≠ 500 mg of 9% extract.
→ Gummies

Why choose this form: Herbal-shop tincture channel · assay per mL · alcohol vs glycerin · stronger five-flavor in the bottle.
Best for: Herbal-shop tincture programs with assay written per mL.
Typical formula cards: Solo liquid; milk thistle only when assay per mL is written.
What to lock: mL per serving; residual solvents; dropper pack.
Manufacturing note: Six-herb liquid blends are quoted from a named BOM.
→ Liquids
Vegan schisandra capsules use HPMC hard capsules on the same S. chinensis fruit grade—not a different extract. Gelatin shells are not vegan. Pectin gummies can be vegan; gelatin gummies are not. We do not print vegan on a gelatin SKU. HPMC is not a softgel fill.
Schisandra fruit extract powder
Extract powder is often brown-yellow to pink. Color does not prove lignan %.

Dried Schisandra chinensis fruit
Dried fruit is the identity material behind fruit-powder milligrams.

Item | Fruit powder | Standardized lignan extract |
|---|---|---|
| Panel | Fruit mg | Berry extract + marker % + HPLC analyte |
| Cost | Lower per kg | Higher per kg; fewer grams per bottle |
| Capsule size | 500 mg–1 g fruit typical | 200–1000 mg extract typical |
| Claims you can defend | Whole-fruit identity | Numbered extract only if analyte, method, and basis match |
| Stability | Moisture; sour if opened | Hygroscopic; induction ± desiccant |
| MOQ | Sticks often higher (film, flavor) | Capsule planning range |
| Typical retail | Identity, sticks, many gummies | Amazon/pharmacy extract capsule |
| When it fits | Fruit mg only | Marker % on the label, or two COAs that must share an HPLC analyte |
Named-ratio extract is a third PO (real DER, no lignan %). S. sphenanthera is not a cheaper chinensis.
PO fields: botanical name, fruit, extract type, marker, HPLC, milligram basis, incoming vs finished unit.
9% is a conversation window on dry extract (commercial talk often 1%–10% total lignans, frequently ~9%). Write analyte + method + basis next to the percentage. Total lignans ≠ “schisandrin” ≠ schisandrin A ≠ schisandrin B.

Example chromatogram showing peak separation. Batch release still uses the HPLC analyte named on the PO.
How standardized POs are written: standard extracts.

| Extract | 10:1 | — | Not equivalent |
| Marker | Total lignans | Schisandrin B | Not equivalent |
| Assay | HPLC | HPLC | Method alone is not enough |
| Marker % | 9% | 9% | Still not equivalent |

Label milligrams and lignan math for the panel—not a consumer serving recommendation. Common extract servings: 200, 500, or 1000 mg. Duals often near 200 mg so the second identity fits.
Extract in the unit | Illustration (9% total lignans on that extract) | Calculated lignans |
|---|---|---|
| 200 mg | 9% | 18 mg |
| 500 mg | 9% | 45 mg |
| 1000 mg | 9% | 90 mg |
That math holds only when 9% is defined on the incoming extract as above. Drum COA ≠ capsule guarantee without finished-unit assay.
Origin conversation | Buyer usually wants | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Northeast China (Jilin / Heilongjiang / Liaoning) | Main S. chinensis volume | 9% lignans |
| Korea (omija) | Food + supplement story; premium origin claim | HPLC analyte |
| Russian Far East | Northern fruit; scarcity story | Organic |
| S. sphenanthera | Often cheaper open-market fruit | The same species |
Fruit is typically picked September–October in the northeast. Marked extract lags drying, extraction, and release. For a Q1–Q2 9% launch, lock spec after the autumn crop is assayed (often late Q4–Q1). Summer RFQs for tight HPLC grades wait on the previous crop. Short harvest and failed pesticide lots hit marked extract first. Chinese New Year adds calendar delay even when drums exist.
Extract powder is often hygroscopic. Moisture first; heat for gummies; light for liquids.
Format | Main pressure | Lock |
|---|---|---|
| Capsules / tablets | Moisture, weight drift | Induction, desiccant, moisture spec |
| Stick | Opened film, sour, caking | Barrier film, flavor |
| Gummies | Cook heat/pH, piece potency | Pilot, piece assay |
| Liquid | Taste, light, assay per mL | Amber dropper, alcohol vs glycerin |
No universal “24-month” claim. Dating follows that SKU’s stability file. Packaging review
Usually a fit (own assay each). Ashwagandha, rhodiola, codonopsis, eleuthero, Panax, milk thistle, goji, dong quai. Mushrooms: cordyceps; reishi on mushroom immune. Maca. Magnesium bisglycinate when the SKU is not a stimulant. Vitamin C if each assay is named.
Constraint. Caffeine belongs on a named energy BOM, not a calm-adaptogen story. Hygroscopic 9% extract in a high-moisture gummy needs a pilot.
Out of default scope. Prenatal, pet, and infant SKUs; Wuzhi / isolated schisandrin A; Korean red ginseng named on an eleuthero panel; six-herb drops with one blend weight. Quote those from a named BOM after regulatory review.
Conventional fruit is the default. USDA Organic, EU Organic, and wild-harvest wording need a certified lot, chain of custody, and segregated handling—they change supply, price, MOQ, and lead time. We confirm that chain before quoting. If it cannot be locked, we decline the claim rather than relabel. Wild harvest is not USDA Organic. Facility cGMP is not an organic certificate.
Cost driver | Impact | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Extract standardization (analyte + HPLC + %) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 9% named lignans is a different drum from fruit powder |
| Organic / segregated certified lot | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Not default; many RFQs cannot be filled |
| Finished-unit HPLC | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Drum COA is cheaper than guaranteeing the capsule |
| Origin-on-label / short crop | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Harvest-constrained 9% |
| Second botanical | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Two assays, often a larger capsule |
| Flavor development (stick, gummy, liquid) | ⭐⭐⭐ | Five-flavor fruit |
| Packaging (bottle, blister, film, dropper) | ⭐⭐⭐ | Barrier and tooling |
| Third-party COA (SGS / Eurofins) | ⭐⭐⭐ | Extra panel, not a substitute for release |
| Artwork / multi-market packs | ⭐⭐ | Same formula, different destination files |
Two “9%” quotes 40% apart are usually two materials. Compare COAs first.
Ranges move with format, bottle size, flavor, artwork, testing, and whether the formula already sells.
Scope | Starting range |
|---|---|
| Capsules | ~3,000–5,000 units |
| Tablets | ~5,000–10,000 units |
| Powder / stick | Often from ~10,000 |
| Gummies / liquids | After feasibility |
| Bulk kg | Separate from unit MOQ |
Unflavored extract capsules are simpler than a five-flavor stick. Dual HPLC and finished lignan assay add time before the sample clock (7–15 days after spec and material confirmation; mass production 30–45 days after formula, artwork, pack, and schedule).
If Amazon is the channel, say so on the RFQ. We quote FBA-ready pack-out when named: unit label fields you supply (including FNSKU if you provide it), case pack, carton marks, and moisture barrier appropriate to lignan powder. We manufacture the SKU; we are not the Amazon seller of record.
Incoterms (FOB, CIF, DAP, DDP) are named on the commercial file. DDP is quoted when the destination, duty treatment, and forwarder file allow it—not as a website default. Export documents follow the destination market.
Release still has to prove species (chinensis vs sphenanthera), milligram basis (fruit vs extract), and lignan HPLC analyte. Powder color does not close those rows. Customer-supplied drums follow the same qualification; finished-unit testing still applies. Hold/release when a result is outside spec.
Incoming conversation: HPTLC (or DNA if required), lignan HPLC, moisture, metals, micro, pesticides/solvents when the extract file needs them, bulk density when fill weight depends on it. Third-party reports when the RFQ asks. Quality control.
RFQ → lock species and lignan file → sample (taste pilots for gummies/tinctures) → artwork (wu wei zi vs schisandra, CYP-adjacent warnings) → production → batch COA → shipment. Changing the extract supplier after approval restarts qualification.
Structure/function follows the destination file. Same artwork worldwide is usually no. Wu wei zi / five-flavor are naming fields. Lignans can affect CYP450 enzymes—counsel reviews the destination warning file. Pregnancy and lactation are not default SKUs. Possible complaints: GI discomfort; sour taste in open powders, gummies, and liquids. Isolated-schisandrin-A drugs, dropping pills, teas, and seed oils are quoted only when separately scoped.
RFQ mistakes we see: “9%” with no analyte; extract vs fruit mg mixed; sphenanthera sold as chinensis; organic artwork on a conventional drum; “same as Wuzhi.”
You do not need a finished Supplement Facts panel to start. Send the COA or BOM you have, milligram basis, format, pack, quantity, and whether Amazon pack or a named Incoterm is in scope. Missing fields are listed before price is compared.
